A LITTLE BIT OF HISTORY. MAIN ACTIVITIES.
1969 Xavier Nogués Foundation, initiated by his widow Isabel Escalada for the "promotion, dissemination and support activities relating to the visual arts, to perpetuate the memory of Xavier Nogués".
The founders were Oriol Bohigas Guardiola (architect), Jordi Curos Ventura (painter), Ramón Gonzalez Casellas , Josep Pedreira Fernández (editor and writer), August Testor Permanyer and Cecilia Vidal Maynou (art curator of the Department of Drawings and Prints of the Catalonian National Museum of Art - MNAC).
1971 Mr. Joan Ainaud Lasarte, CEO of the Art Museums of Barcelona, was named president of the Foundation.
1972 A Xavier Nogués bust cast in bronze ,maked by Josep Dunyac, original is deposited in the Museum of Modern Art of Barcelona (MNAC now).
The notary Raimón Noguera de Guzmán, is appointed vice president of the Foundation.
1973 To celebrate the Xavier Nogués birth centenary (1873 to 1941) Foundation announces the first Xavier Nogués Engraving Contest and the first Xavier Nogués Beca, which is attributed to the painter of Olot, Jordi Casacuberta Codinach.
1975 Purchase of a printing press for printing engravings, which is deposited in the "Conservatory of the Arts of the Book" from the "Barcelona School of Arts and Crafts".
1979 Edition of "XXX Lithographies from Xavier Nogués", stamped at the "Conservatory of the Arts of the Book" of Barcelona, edited by Cecília Vidal. It is a facsimile reproduction of 30 lithographies and 16 variants. In the prolog Espriu says: "In 1937, the Generalitat de Catalunya (...) commissioned Xavier Nogués to make a gift, five unique albums each containing 30 lithographs (...) preceded by a Carles Riba exemplary prolog. The five copies were bind by Mr. Brugada.
1990 Bibliophile edition of the "La Catalunya Pintoresca" of Xavier Nogués. It is a facsimile reproduction of 50 original drawings by Xavier Nogués. The first edition, edited in Barcelona by Salvat-Papasseit editors in of 1919, was 500 copies and was presented at "La llar del llibre" in Barcelona.
1991 Acquisition and transfer of a printing press for printing of engravings at the School of Arts and Crafts in Tarragona.
Cecilia Vidal's conference , "Xavier Nogues Recorder" in Encamp (Andorra).
Mr. Josep M. Cadena, writer and journalist, is named new patron and vice president of foundation.
1995 Acquisition and transfer of a printing press for printing of engravings at the School of Fine Arts in Olot (Girona).
After de deasth of Mr. Ainaud de Lasarte, Mr. Josep Maria Cadena Catalan was named president of the Foundation.
Joan - Francesc Ainaud Escudero be incorporated as patron of foundation.
1999 Acquisition and transfer of a printing press for printing of engravings at the School of Arts and Crafts in Vic.
The foundation buys a oleo paint "Paisatge" by Xavier Nogués, that deposited in the Olot Museum.
2000 Awarded the "Premio Xavier Nogués" to artistic career, to the engraver and painter Joan Barbarà. The event took place at the Art Museum of Olot, accompanied by an exhibition of engravings by the same artist.
Round table closing the exhibition of 32 prints of "La Catalunya Pintoresca" (The Picturesque Catalonia), in the National Art Museum of Catalonia (MNAC), with Josep Maria Cadena, Francesc Fontbona, Jordi Vidal and CeciliaVidal.
Ricard Pedreira Font became patron of foundation, replacing Josep Fernández Pedreira.
2005 Edition of the Joan Barbara book, "From Paris to Olot."
Reissue "Xavier Nogués engravures", edited in 1960 by Rosa Vera Editions.
Acquisition of a original oleo portrait of Xavier Nogués, painted by Marià Pidelaserra deposited at the Foundation headquarters.
2006 Presentation of the book of Joan Barbara "From Paris to Olot" on bibliophiles Fair in the Barcelona Hotel Majestic Barcelona and the Olot Museum.
2009 Engraving equipment for the etching classroom in the Massana School in Barcelona.
Publication of the book of Jaume Pla, "The Xavier Nogués engravings" and presentations into the Llibreria Catalonia (Catalonian bookstore) by Dolors Lamarca, bookstore director, J.Mª. Cadena and Francesc Fontbona.
2010 The foundation sponsors "1st. Engraving Experimental Seminar Xavier Nogués" at Massana School of Barcelona.
Conference on Xavier Nogues by Josep Maria. Cadena in the "Victor Balaguer Library-museum" in Vilanova i La Geltrù (Barcelona).
Sponsorship of Cecilia Vidal book, "Xavier Nogués (1983-1941)", published by Àmbit. Co-authors are: Joan Ainaud Lasarte, Josep M. Cadena, Francesc Fontbona, Joan-Francesc Ainaud and Ricard Pedreira.
2011 The foundation sponsors "2nd. Engraving Experimental Seminar Xavier Nogués" at Massana School.
A recovery managements for a Xavier Nogués glass skylight , located at the entrance of the of the old Coll farmhouse in Rubi (Barcelona). Dimensions 426 x 271 x 110 cm, was drawn and painted by Xavier Nogués and fire enameled by Ricard Crespo.
Sponsorship of the Xavier Nogués exhibition catalog in the collections of Victor Balaguer Museum Library, with texts by Cecilia Vidal and Mireia Rosich.
2012 The foundation sponsors "3rd Engraving Experimental Seminar Xavier Nogués" at Massana School.
Publication of the Josep Pedreira book "Les prunes del rei de França", poems arround the wine, illustrated by Xavier Nogués, edited by Ricard Pedreira.
Sponsorship of "Sis figurins sis per a giravolt de maig", with texts by Cecilia Vidal and J. Alemany, in collaboration with the Friends of the Library Victor Balaguer Museum of Vilanova i La Geltrú (Barcelona).
2013 The foundation sponsors "4th. Engraving Experimental Seminar Xavier Nogués" at Massana School.
To celebrate the "Salvador Espriu year", the Foundation publishes the book "In homage to Salvador Espriu", with texts by Francesc Fontbona and Cecília Vidal.
The foundation sponsors the "Engraving course" of Amézcua Hervás Foundation in Gavá (Barcelona)
Mr. Jacinto Berenguer Casals (lawyer) became patron of the Foundation.
2014 The Foundation Board is composed of Josep M. Cadena Catalán (president), Francesc Fontbona of Vallescar (Vicepresident), Cecilia Vidal Maynou (secretariat), Ricard Pedreira Font (Treasurer) and members Oriol Bohigas Guardiola, Jordi Curos Ventura, Joan Francesc Ainaud Escudero and Jacinto Berenguer Casals.
2015. The Foundation has continued its sponsorship activities of the workshops Engraving Experimental Workshop with the Escola Massana, with Amézcua Hervas Foundation and with Mateo Vilagrasa Foundation.
